About us
Hey there,
Thanks so much for visiting the Hunter Cycles website and getting this far!
We thought we'd take a moment to introduce ourselves. I'm Georgia, one half of Hunter Cycles, and Majid completes the duo.
I thought I'd bring you up to speed on how we came to be here, how Hunter Cycles started and a little bit about us along the way.
So, where did Hunter Cycles come from, you may wonder?
Well, the name actually comes from Majid's surname, Shekari, which translates to Hunter in English.
Majid has been cycling for as long as he can remember. In his early twenties, he raced for the Iranian national cycling team, and at just 23, he opened his very own bike shop in Iran.
When he moved to the UK, he always had the ambition of one day opening another shop here. But first, he spent years building on his experience, working as a bike mechanic before going on to specialise in cargo bikes in the UK.
With over 13 years of experience in the cycling industry, it's fair to say bikes have always been a pretty big part of his life.
Fast forward a few years, and that's where I come into the picture.
My background couldn't be much more different. I've spent my career working in the corporate engineering world here in the UK, so whilst Majid knows just about everything there is to know about bikes, I come from a world of projects, planning and spreadsheets.
We met, and somewhere along the way, Majid managed to sell me the dream of starting our own business together.
So, Majid left his job at the cargo bike shop, and we spent the next six months buying, fixing up and selling bikes from our garden. It was a brilliant six months, although I can't say I ever expected our garden to become a bike workshop!
But we knew we wanted to take things a little further. We wanted to create something of our own, something a little different, and somewhere we could bring together Majid's years of experience with our own ideas of what a local bike shop could be.
That's when we decided to go all in. A lot of long nights, a lot of planning, writing, searching and a few stressful moments eventually led us to Unit 25 in Battersea.
A 1,500 sq ft space that we could finally call our own.
We wanted to create a shop that brings expert knowledge, a great selection of cargo bikes, children's bikes and refurbished bikes together under one roof. Somewhere you can come to explore your options, ask questions, try something new or simply bring your bike in for a service.
And here we are!
We're really excited to become part of the Battersea community and to build a shop that local families and cyclists can rely on. Whether you're looking for your first cargo bike, need a little help with the one you've already got, or just fancy popping in to say hello, we'd love to meet you.
Thanks for taking the time to read our story. We can't wait to welcome you into the shop.
